Next Steps to Connecting with God
Ask Jesus to live in your heart – if you haven’t taken this step, it is the doorway to your life with God. You can’t get to know someone you’ve never met. If it’s been a while and you need to get reacquainted, make sure He knows the door is open to Him.
Invite Jesus to be Your Lord
Use your words, and in your own way express your heart to God. Tell him you need a Savior because you recognize your sins. Ask Jesus to live in you. Here's a prayer you can pray, but internalize it, make it your own.
Father God, I've been doing things my own way, and I'm tired of it. I need you. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins, and I ask You to be my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart and make me clean. Help me turn from my sin and toward You. Thank you for saving me.
What I Believe
I believe in God the Father, the Almighty One, Creator of heaven and earth, who breathes into us the breath of life, who was before all things and has no end. I believe He is good and only gives good gifts to His children, disciplining us as only a good Father can, and One who has our best interests at heart.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, who died a brutal death on a cross, because He obeyed God and laid down His life as a sacrifice for our sins, the sins of a whole fallen world. One sacrifice for all people for all time. He rose from the grave and He now is seated in heavenly places beside Father God in heaven, and speaking to God on our behalf. Jesus will return in glory with the sound of a trumpet and every eye on earth will witness as He splits the eastern sky. He will be the Righteous Judge of all.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, indwelling us, instructing us, counseling, and consoling us. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in that still, small voice which agrees with the essence of Jesus, His holy Word, and the Father's heart. The Holy Spirit indwells God's children to conform us to the image of Christ and to empower us to serve as the Body of Christ in the world, fulfilling His purposes.
I believe in the Bible, God’s Word, a light for our paths and an inerrant standard for our daily walk. "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)
I believe in the Body of Christ, His Church, as His hands, feet, heart, voice, elbows, and love in a fallen world. We believe God is preparing the Church as the bride of Christ, pure and spotless, culminating with the Marriage Feast of the Lamb. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and will return to take her home.
I believe in the Kingdom of God and life everlasting, which starts with our heart connection with His Son Jesus Christ and our confession of Him as our Lord and Savior. Kingdom living begins on earth and continues forever in our eternal home.
